It's been awhile since the first post but since I'm new to this I didn't really know what to post.

If you check my last post you can see what I got in the mail from Fat Quarter Shop.  I was going to put it on the back burner and finish  a Falling Charms quilt but I just happened to get up from the table for just a few seconds and this happened.

Meet Cricket

Her mother was a semi feral cat that I had been trying to tame enough so I could get her spayed.  I didn't even know she was pregnant until I walked out on my deck on August 29, 2011 and found two just born kittens just laying there.  The mother did not want anything to do with them so I picked them both up, grabbed the blow dryer and started warming them up.  They were so cold I didn't think either of them were going to live.  Once they were warm, I called the vet and she walked me thru cutting the cord and keeping them warm.  I spent the next three weeks waking up every two hours to feed them.

I am so happy that you saved my life, I think I'll just settle in here!

Crystal getting comfy on my crutches

Anyway, long story short, I succeeded in hand raising them and  when it came time to find them new homes I just couldn't part with Cricket because I couldn't resist her little alien eyes.  I found a great home for Crystal and finally tamed their mom enough that my sister adopted her after she was spayed.

Cricket is a great quilt inspector except when she decides to inspect one before I'm done.  Since she was busy testing the one I was working on I decided to start on the BOM and as you can see didn't stop until I had all the blocks done.

I don't like the way the pattern calls for them to be set together so am ordering extra fabric for the borders and should be able to put it together next week.

I totally fell in love with this block and am also ordering fabric to make an entire quilt from this block.  Maybe a gift for my niece for Christmas.

Thanks for stopping by and I'll try and post more often than once a month.

    1. Thank you for stopping by. I'm happy with the blocks, just have to get the extra fabric so I can finish the top. No word on the package yet, it's being tracked down and I'll let you know when I hear from the post office.

  2. What a wonderful story about Cricket and Crystal and they are both so beautiful! It is great that you have an "inspector" to keep an eye on all the neat stuff you make. Love your blocks and I'm so glad you started blogging!!
